The Flaming Lips is a psychedelic rock band formed in the 80s with a distinct sound and strange album covers. One of their albums, “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots”, features a giant robot on the album cover. I wanted to relate this theme to my poster design, hence the giant robot featured as the main graphic. Gig posters for rock bands are usually weird, artsy, and of a variety of styles, capturing the viewers attention and possibly becoming collectibles over time.

The goal of this project was to create a poster that was illustrative, dynamic, and fitting for a band such as The Flaming Lips. The interaction between the type and the graphic creates a dynamic and expressive poster design.
